What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy involves the diagnosis, treatment and management
of movement dysfunction and enhancement of physical and functional
abilities. Physical therapy includes the examination, evaluation,
prognosis and intervention provided by a physical therapist.
Treatment is directed toward the restoration, maintenance and
promotion of optimal physical function, fitness and wellness.
It includes the prevention of the onset, symptoms and progression
of impairments, functional limitations and disabilities that
may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries.

What to expect as a Patient
In
a quiet and comfortable environment, you will work together
with your physical therapist. All our sessions, including the
initial evaluation require a minimum of one hour. During the
initial evaluation, you will discuss your symptoms and desired
outcome and your physical therapist will perform a hands-on
evaluation. Based on your goals, the requests of your referring
physician and the results of the evaluation, you and your physical
therapist will agree upon a treatment plan together.

Interferential Electric Stimulation- Two independent channels of electrical current crossing each other to create deep pain relief.
Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation (TENS)- Mild electical current in low frequencies applied to relieve stiffness and pain.
Neuromuscular Electric Stimulation/Russain Stimulation- Medium to high electric currents used to activate specific muscle groups.

Iontophoresis- Localized transcutaneous delivery of medication into the body through the skin by using electric current.
Infared Therapy- Infared light effecting cells to increase energy, new tissue production, immune response, wound healing and decrease pain.
Biofeedback/Surface EMG- Measures muscle activity both at rest and while contracting through electrodes placed on the skin.
Kinesio Tape- Elastic, latex-free tape lasting 3-5 days that may re-educate the nueromuscular system, reduce pain, promote healing, promote lymph flow and decrease swelling.
